wlanapi.dll not found — what should I do?

If an application on your cloud or dedicated Windows Server requires the wlanapi.dll file, there is no need to search for it on the internet. This component is already built into the system; you simply need to activate it through the standard component installation wizard.

The wlanapi.dll file is part of the Wireless LAN Service component, which is often disabled by default in server editions of Windows (e.g., Windows Server).

To resolve the error:

1. Open Server Manager;
2. Go to Manage → Add Roles and Features;
3. In the Add Roles and Features Wizard, proceed to the Features step;
4. In the features list, find and check Wireless LAN Service;
5. Click Install and wait for the process to complete;
6. Reboot the server.

After the restart, the wlanapi.dll file will be available in the system, and the error will be resolved.

Note: Even on physical servers without a Wi-Fi adapter, this component can still be installed. Some applications require it—even when wireless connectivity is not in use.
